How to set up web session timeout

I need to set up a timeout for the appliance user sessions. I tried

VAMI_AUTHENTICATION_TIMEOUT=1; export in VAMI_AUTHENTICATION_TIMEOUT /etc/bash.bashrc, but the users are not logged out from the appliance console after 1 minute.

Please advise.
